Offshore Will · Assets outside the UAE
Cover what you own outside the UAE
A will for assets held abroad. It sits alongside your UAE will rather than replacing it: a UAE register governs UAE assets, and property, accounts or shares in another country are governed where they are.
What it is
A will for what you own OUTSIDE the UAE. It sits alongside your UAE will rather than replacing it: a UAE register governs UAE assets, and property or accounts held abroad are governed where they sit. A separate will is generally needed for each country the assets are in, which is why the number of countries is the first thing we ask. For: anyone holding property, accounts or shares abroad.
Who needs it
You need this if you:
How it works
Four stages, and only the first one is yours. We take it from your answers to the counter at the authority, and tell you what each stage costs before it starts.
- Step 1 of 4.
List the countries
We start from where the assets actually are, because that is what decides how many wills you need and what each one has to say.
- Step 2 of 4.
Approve your quote
One clear quote for the drafting. Any fee charged by an overseas registry or notary is yours and is quoted separately at cost.
- Step 3 of 4.
We draft, you review
A licensed drafter prepares the will, written so it does not conflict with the UAE will you already hold. You review it before signing.
- Step 4 of 4.
Sign and store
We set out what each country needs for the will to be valid there, and you receive the finished document and your copies.
Documents you’ll need
Send a clear phone photo of each. Anything marked (if it applies) is only needed when it is true of you.
- Passport copy of the testator — The photo page, clear enough to read
- Emirates ID of the testator — Both sides
- Passport copy of the second testator (if it applies) — Only for a couple, for the matching will
- A list of every country the assets are held in — One will is generally needed per country
- Title deeds, account and share details for each country — Enough to identify each asset in its own jurisdiction
- Beneficiary names and passport copies — Everyone who should inherit
- Guardian details for the children (if it applies) — Only if you have children under 18
- Executor details — Who should carry out the will. An executor abroad may be needed as well

- A couple - two matching wills — AED 1,199 ex VAT, AED 1,258.95 including VAT
Common questions
Does this replace my UAE will?
No, and it must not. A UAE register governs UAE assets. This covers what you own elsewhere, and it is drafted so the two documents do not contradict each other.
Do I need one will per country?
Often, yes. Each country decides what makes a will valid there, so one document rarely serves them all. We will tell you how many you actually need before you commit.
How long does it take?
Typically 7-10 working days. It is longer than a UAE will because each jurisdiction has its own requirements to check.
What does registration cost abroad?
That depends entirely on the country, and it is the customer's fee rather than ours. We quote our drafting fee, and pass through anything an overseas registry or notary charges at cost.
A note on scope: WillXO is a documentation facilitation service. Legal work is performed by licensed professionals and registration is carried out by the relevant authority. We do not provide legal advice.
